Description of duties |
The graduate assistant will focus on modelling weed seed germination and emergence in subtropic environments. The project will emphasize the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to evaluate the effects of environmental variables on weed emergence across Central Florida. The research will involve field and greenhouse experiments. The student is expected to publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The successful candidate will be given opportunities to present results at professional meetings and participate in scholarly activities relevant to the career goals of the candidate. |
Qualifications sought |
The preferred candidate must hold an MS degree in weed science, agronomy, plant physiology, ecology, agroecology, plant science, horticulture, computer science, or other related fields. The successful candidate should be interested in weed biology, ecology, or physiology. Experience or interest in AI or computer science is a bonus. The candidate is expected to have an excellent work ethic, the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in English language (written and oral).
